For us in Green Alternative – Sustainable Development of Croatia (Zelena alternativa – održivi razvoj Hrvatske) transparent party funding and financial disclosures is one of the key issues in our every day work. Reason is very simple – we firmly believe that if we are asking voters to give us their confidence on elections and allow us to control assets of our municipality or a state the best way to show we are transparent with our assets. There is no better way to show that we are planning to be transparent and responsible with all assets entrusted to us. So, we are in every campaign totally transparent, trying to provide more information then demanded by national regulation in order to show that we will be at least a bit more transparent then all our competitors.
That way we are not only increasing our credibility but also raising a bit standard in public finances, which are not high enough in Croatia at the moment. Of course, our opponents are trying to criticize us and, among other things, claiming that it is easy for us to do so since our expenses in campaigns are very low and therefore is easy to provide all information. That is true, we are not a big party (yet), so we do not have a lot of income, both from public sources or from donors, but never the less we are insisting on doing so. Our goal is to provide almost real-time financial reports of our party, what is our goal for all local authorities and public services in Croatia, since we believe in very simple principle: do what you preach.
